Smoky Swirl Tag
I was playing around with
various filters and effects in PSP and came up with this technique that
I thought was way cool. Here are the steps so you can do it yourself.
| Supplies Needed:
1. Paint Shop Pro (duh). Any version
you have, but I'm using 8. Version 7 has the same filters, but in
different places.
2. Tube of your choice- Download the
tube I used HERE. I
forgot where I picked this up at, it's been so many years ago, but
the original file name is intact.
3.Visman's VM Distortion filter. You
can download a copy
HERE.
|

|
| Step One:
Open up the tube you are going to
use, and copy it. Click on "Edit" and then "Paste" and then "Paste
As New Image". Close your original tube. This way you are
working on a copy of the tube, and won't ruin your original.
Step Two:
On your top tool bar, click on
"Layers" and then "Duplicate". On your Layer palette, click on the
bottom layer, should be labeled "Layer 1" so that it is
highlighted. |

|
| Step Three:
On your top tool bar, click on
"Effects" and then on "Distortion Effects" and then
on "Twirl". Use the settings below:
Degrees: 700
|
Your image should
look like the one below:
 |
| Step Four:
On your top tool bar, click on
"Effects" and then "PlugIns" (This could be 1 or 2 depending on
where you have installed your plugins) and then to "VM
Distortions" and then on the "Smallpox" filter. Use the default
settings, and your image should look like the one to the right.
|
 |
| Step Five:
Go to "Adjust" and then "Blur" and
then "Motion Blur" and apply these settings:
Angle: 300 Strength: 40%
Do your Motion Blur again, except
this time use these settings:
Angle: 65 Strength: 40%
|

|
| Step Six:
Apply the VM Distortion "Smallpox"
filter again with the same settings.
Step Seven:
On your top tool bar, go up to
"Effects" and then "Texture Effects" and then select "Blinds". Use
the following settings:
Width: 2 Opacity: 20
Color: White Horizontal: Checked Light from left/top:
Checked
|

|
| Step Eight:
Apply your VM Distortion "Smallpox"
filter one more time using the same settings.
Step Nine:
On your layer palette, click on the
layer named "Copy of Layer 1". Go up to "Image" and then "Resize"
and resize the layer by 80% making sure the box next to "Resize
all layers" is NOT checked.
Step Ten:
Add a drop shadow to this layer with
the following settings:
Vertical Alignment: 1 Horizontal
Alignment: 1 Opacity: 74 Blur: 3.95 Color: Black
|

|
| Finishing Up:
Go up to your top tool bar and choose
"Layers" and then "Merge" and then "Merge Visible". You can at
this point resize your image, I happen to like to work on them
big, but I like smaller tags.
You would at this point add whatever
name or text you want on the tag.
As a final step, you would go to
"Layers" and then "Merge" and then "Merge All".

That's
it, you are done!
