Almost Fool
Proof Tubes
Nothing is worse than
finding a really great tube, and then when you go to use it, you find
little specks of the background have not been removed. I really HATE
that.
This technique has proven
time and time again to be almost fool proof. While it does not work on
every single image, I've found that 9 times out of 10 it works.
For
Multi-colored Backgrounds
| Step One:
Open the image you wish to tube. For
this tutorial, I am using the one to the right.
|

|
| Step Two:
Click on your Freehand Selection tool
and then start
slowly outlining the portion of the picture you want to tube. We
want to keep the hands and the flower of this picture. Keep as
close to the outline of the hands as you possibly can, and go all
the way around the hands. Once you have reached where you have
started outlining, right click your mouse so that it closes the
selection. |

|
| Step Three:
On your top tool bar, click on
"Selections" and then on "Modify". Then you will need to click on
"Contract". You want to contract your selection by 1 pixel. |

|
| Step Four:
On your top tool bar, click on
"Selections" and then on "Modify". Then you will need to click on
"Feather". You want to feather your selection by 2 pixels.
|

|
| Step Five:
On your top tool bar, click on "Edit"
and then "Copy". Click on "Edit" again, and then on "Paste" and
choose "Paste As New Image". |

|
That's
it, you are done! You should have a pretty good tube.
If you would like to
check it, fill the image with a darker background color, and then paste
your tube as a new layer. You will be able to see if any of the previous
background remains.
